Hi, I'm Elliot (they/them).
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Washington. I am trained in Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, and am a Child Mental Health Specialist with over 8 years of clinical experience. I specialize in working with trans*, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, or gender-questioning adults, youth, and their families. I identify as transmasculine, nonbinary, and queer. I am also neurodivergent and a deconstructing ex-evangelical. Holding these identities allows me a deeper understanding of the nuances and struggles specific to trans folks. I strive to create a respectful, non-judgmental, and safe space for all who enter my office. It is of the utmost importance to me that you feel seen and heard in whatever it is that you are going through. Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy all things houseplants, listening to audiobooks, being in the sunshine, learning about skepticism and the laws of logic, and home renovation projects. APPROACH AND MODALITIES Therapy is vulnerable and personal. My job is to hold you, your story, and your process with dignity and respect. I am a secular humanist. My approach as a therapist is largely informed by the value of self-determination, which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. My orientation is relational and client-centered when working with individuals and families; Our work together will focus on whatever is important to you, and be tailored specifically to meet your goals. As a politicized therapist, my approach is informed by the impact of living inside unavoidable and pervasive systems of institutionalized racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ableism, and religious oppression. My goal is to create with you a supportive, non-judgmental, and safe relationship where you can heal and build hope. It is my deepest wish for all people to be seen and supported in their journey, wherever they are. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, an evidence-based trauma therapy. |
